Best Food Festivals in Kent this Summer

Ah, the great British summer. The kids have finished school, the sun is (occasionally) shining, and the Kent countryside is blooming in a vast array of coloured flora. What better time of the year is there to explore everything the county has to offer? From castles to beaches, there’s something for everyone, not least the wide variety of food festivals occurring over the summer months. Whether you’re looking for something more specialist or a day out the whole family can enjoy, we’ve compiled a list of just a few of the events going on, to make this your best summer yet!

Great Kent Chilli Festival

Hole Park, Cranbrook | 10:00-17:00 | 30/06/18 - 01/07/18 | £3 - £18

For those of you searching for ways to keep warm, as the British weather inevitably takes its time to get suitably summery, look no further than Kent’s very own Chilli Food Festival. Filled with every form of chilli imaginable, from dips to jams, and at all heat-levels, this festival has something for everyone looking to spice up their life. Want to learn how to grow the perfect chilli at home? There’ll be a talk for that. Need to learn how to cook the best curry for an upcoming dinner party? Expert chefs will be donning their best apron to show you. This is looking to be a fab day out for all, with an international range of food stalls to choose from, from Mediterranean favourites to the classic burger; a chilli eating contest to scare even the bravest amongst you; and a charity chilli con carne cook-off to find out who makes the best chilli in Kent. With an inflatable slide and mini carousel to keep the children entertained, this might just be the best way to kick off your family’s summer!

Kick off your bank holiday weekend by attending Maidstone’s multicultural food festival. Set up to celebrate the many cultures living in Maidstone and the surrounding area, the festival is named after the Georgian word for the feeling of not being able to stop eating because everything tastes so good. Alongside the mouth-watering array of food on offer, this festival will feature music, dance and crafts from around the globe. Using local produce from Kent, don’t miss out on this opportunity to try delicacies from Georgia to South-East Asia and beyond.
