With half term well underway, you might be thinking about things to do with your children while they are off school. It can be difficult finding new things to do with your children in the local area and you might feel like you always end up doing the same thing.

You might also be looking for workshops that your children can enjoy which can give you time to get other things done. We have come up with a list of some of the best days out in Kent for you and your kids this half term.

Living with Nature at Hever Castle

If you’re looking to get outdoors with your children and want to find an activity that is also educational, then Hever Castle is the perfect place to head this half term. Your children will find out about how they can encourage wildlife in the garden and much more in a range of activities throughout the holidays.

Many of the events that run throughout the day are included in the price of your admission, but there are some additional events with an added charge. These include things like face painting and building a bug house. Find out more about the events here.

A Day Out with Thomas on Kent & East Sussex Railway

You can have a great day out with young children this half term on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. Your children can see a full-sized Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. There will be plenty of free activities on offer and you will also get to ride on a real steam engine train with a 50-minute return train journey.

All of your children’s favourite characters will be there including the Fat Controller, Rusty and Dusty. Some of the free activities include a DVD screening, puppet shows, soft play and even a free goody bag. The train sets off from Tenterden and you can find more information here.

Make-It Workshops at Maidstone Museum

Get down to Maidstone Museum for plenty of activities this half term. There are a number of different workshops on offer that let your children get crafty and make something exciting. This is a great way for children to have fun with others and learn how to make something creative at the same time.

There are different sessions taking place throughout the day so that you can find a time that suits you! There are also different crafts on each day during half term so make sure you take a look at the agenda online to find out which one your children would enjoy the most.

Half Term Holiday Club at Tiger Gymnastics Tonbridge

If you are looking for a fun half term club that your children can get involved in then make sure you take a look at the half term holiday club at Tiger Gymnastics. This is perfect for children of different ages up to 13 years, with a range of different days and activities available.

There are gymnastics classes available along with trampolining, arts and crafts and other fun games. You will need to bring a packed lunch for your children but there will be plenty of fun for them throughout the day.
