What do you mean by 24 hour self storage?
Put simply, you can access your storage unit whenever you want, as often as you want. Some of our stores offer 24 hour access self storage, and the rest all have extended hours opening, and are open at weekends. You can add to, take away from or just check up on your storage at a time to suit you - unlike some storage companies, we offer free, unlimited access.
What if I rent the wrong room size?
In this instance you can simply rebook and move to the correct room size. Or, if the right size isn't available, you can take an additional room.
I'm not sure how everything should be packed - can you help?
Our trained, friendly staff are there to give you all the help and advice you need. We also stock a full range of packing materials suitable for all kinds of storage solutions.
Storage & Packing Tips
1) Make a list of what you intend to store, especially larger or unusual shaped items. Note items that can fold down or be taken apart to make more space i.e. beds. This will help you get the best possible quote and enough packing materials.
2) Calculate the value of what you have to store and arrange insurance cover. This can be done in store and must be taken out prior to moving your goods in.
3) Label all boxes clearly to help when retrieving goods from your unit and unpacking.
4) Allow large and heavy items to form the base of the storage room with lighter items at the top.
5) Use chest of drawers and wardrobes to store boxes and paper work giving you extra room. Position items that you will need frequent access to at the front of the unit.
6) Cover all furniture with dust sheets and remember to wrap table and chair legs to avoid scratching.
7) Store heavy items in smaller boxes to make for easy lifting. Store china and breakables in stronger cardboard and plastic boxes packing with bubble wrap or tissue paper.
8) Make sure that fridges and freezers are fully defrosted to prevent water damage and where possible leave the doors open to allow ventilation.
9) Clean all garden furniture before storing and make sure that your lawnmower is drained of petrol.
10) Purchase a padlock to secure your unit (available in store). If there will be more than one person accessing the unit (store will need notification of this) consider a combination padlock.
I might need less / more space in the future. Is this a problem?
Of course not. You can easily decrease or increase the space you rent - so you'll always have enough space, but never end up paying for too much space. You can find out how much space you're likely to need by checking our Space Guide
I'm moving home, what tips can you give me?
Here are a few moving home tips to help you along the way...
One month to go...
- This is a good time to see if you will need a self storage room during the moving process. You may decide to move some of your items into storage in advance of the move to make things easier on the day or to temporarily create more space in your new home while you redecorate when you first move in.
- Buy contacting Easistore early we can help with any enquiries and advise you on which packing materials you are likely to need. To view a selection of the moving supplies we sell in store and to buy online, visit our Box Shop.
- Ring around for a few quotes from different removal firms before you appoint one (see our Recommended Removers) and make sure they are properly insured and establish exactly what they are prepared to do before you give them your business. We can recommend reputable local removal and van hire firms whom our customers regularly use and trust.
- Order your packing materials. Remember, if you buy a storage pack from us, we will deliver it to you free of charge.
- Start packing any non-essential items such as out-of-season clothing, together with your best china, glassware and ornaments. Mark the contents clearly on the side and the top of the boxes so that the details can still be seen on a stacked box.
- Clear out your loft, garage and shed if you have one.
- Advise your friends, family and any business associates of your new address and the date of your move. If you move hasn't already become a talking point, this is likely to prompt your friends and family to offer you their own valuable tips on moving home.
- Arrange to have post re-directed to your new address - there's always someone you will overlook when you send out your change-of-address notes!
- Keep all correspondence from your Estate Agent, your Solicitor and the removals company safely together for easy reference.
- Contact the companies who insure your building and contents and arrange your cover to be transferred to your new home – as applicable, to commence on the day you move in.

- Wardrobe boxes allow you to store your clothing on hangers which keeps their shape
- Always place a protective cover over your soft furnishings
- Organise your storage space:
- Place heavy or bulky items in the room first to provide a good stacking base
- Plan your storage space - put those items that you need to get to most often near the front, close to the door
- To maximise space stack similar sized boxes together
- Do not place heavy items on sofas or mattresses
- Stack chairs seat to seat with cloth or paper to separate them
- Leave refrigerator or freezer doors open for ventilation
- Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in mirror boxes, marked fragile and stacked on their end
- Avoid stacking or leaning furniture against outside walls to aid ventilation
